Of all of the entries in my address book, there are 2 that have this small white cartoon face next to their names/addresses and I am not sure what this means.

What does the white face next to an entry in my Yahoo address book mean?
It means that the person is not signed in onto messenger. when the face is yellow and smiling it means they are signed in to yahoo messenger. The faces only show up next to yahoo email adresses since you have to have a yahoo email adress to have yahoo instant messenger. Hope I helped!

MY FORBIDDEN FACE: Growing Up Under the Taliban: A Young Woman's Story

Latifa

Hyperion

Memoir

ISBN: 0786869011

MY FORBIDDEN FACE is a true story written by a 16-year-old girl who faithfully recorded events over a five-year period as they happened to her and her family in their country of Afghanistan after it was taken over by the Taliban.

Early last year, Latifa and her parents escaped Afghanistan with the help of a French-based Afghan resistance group. She is now 22 years old and living in Paris. The author's real name is unknown to readers; she used the psuedonym Latifa to write the book because she still has family and friends back in Afghanistan, where she was born and raised in an educated, middle-class family.

Latifa briefly describes her family's life as a happy, contented existence in a united, affectionate, religious, and liberal family. Her father has his own import/export business; her mother is a doctor. One of her sisters, 20-year-old Soraya, is a flight attendant, the other, Shakila, is married, living in Pakistan and on her way to the US with her husband. Her older brother Wahid fought during the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, while another brother Daoud is an economics major in college. Latifa looks forward to being a journalist. As the youngest, she is spoiled and catered to.

The story begins on September 27, 1996 --- the day that the white flag of the Taliban is flown over Kabul, the same day that Latifa goes to the town's square to see the mutilated body of a former president and then becomes a prisoner in her home.

In shock and horror, Latifa observes how life in her country has changed in one day: "Just yesterday, despite the civil war, life was 'normal' in Kabul, even though the city is in ruins. Yesterday, I went to the seamstress with my sister to try on dresses we were going to wear to a wedding today. There would have been music. We would have danced," she writes, in a manner reminiscent of Anne Frank, the Jewish teenager who chronicled the horrors of the Nazi regime.

From 1997 to 2001, the Taliban brutalize the city, heaping inhumanities and indignities on women, who are banned from working, from schools, from public life and from leaving their homes without a male relative. Under the Taliban, media do not exist (Latifa and her family tune into BBC or Voice of America), but the Taliban do use the local radio broadcast to read from the Quran and announce their rules --- no pets, no music, no television, no photographs, no guns, no portraits, no Western books, no education for girls and only religious classes for boys.

There are poignant scenes of Latifa in her room with the posters of Brooke Shields and Elvis, her sweatpants and running shoes, while her family packs away family heirlooms, stores away makeup and colored clothes, sets free their canary and sends their dog Bingo away to relatives in the countryside.

Latifa and her family somehow survive the years by first helping their mother tend to her patients with the frugal medications and supplies she has until she runs out of them. Then, he mother helps her daughters and their friends run a school to teach the neighborhood children, who come to study without any books or pens, fearful of being caught in the pursuit of a well-rounded education.

With honesty and pain, Latifa describes her world --- the world of a girl in Kabul --- educated first during the Soviet occupation, then under communist regimes throughout four years of civil war, and finally as a witness to the horrors inflicted by the Taliban.

Now, she fervently wishes great things for her country, beginning with unity, prosperity enhanced by education and medical facilities. "I pray God that whoever will lead our country may be, in his heart, as much Pashtun, as Tajik, as much Uzbek as Hazara…that our culture may be reborn from the ruins of our pillaged museums."

But she also adds, she will "do more than just pray. Because when the last talib has put away his black turban and I can be a free woman in a free Afghanistan, I will take up my life there once more and do my duty as a citizen, as a woman, and, I hope, as a mother."

I don't know if this is simalar,

but I watched a movie once on lifetime called the face on the milk carton,

and it was about a girl that got adopted or something, and then saw a milk carton at school with her picture on it from like when she was five,

and it said she was up ducted or whatever,

so then she started questioning her life, and her foster parents.

Reply:Yes I heard of the book called: the face on the milk carton ^^

It is really a good book, although it's not my favorite.
Reply:Yeah I read it and loved it. Did you read the sequels? In the voice on the radio I was so mad at Reese (that's his name, right?) for telling her story to a bunch of people like that!!! I can't remember much because I read them so long ago but I own them and should probably look at them again soon.
Reply:It's a good one. Caroline Cooney was one of my favorite authors when I was in middle school.
Reply:I read it when my kids were little. I thought it was a really good story!
Reply:sorry i haven't

the thing is i think i also saw the TV adaptation (if that's what it was...)

What was the setting and the year in which the book *the face on a milk carton* take place?

Contemporary America. You should get that just from knowing the title. It's not like they put faces on milk cartons twenty years ago or in Japan.

Now go read the book. It's good and well worth your time.

why don't you read the book and find out...it's a good book

Is it reasonable to accept a 2,000 year old book at face value while simultaneously arguing against.....?

...mountains of scientific evidence?

Is it reasonable to accept a 2,000 year old book at face value while simultaneously arguing against.....?
Unfortunately, for many that seems like a perfectly reasonable thing to do. Though it's never made a great deal of sense to me. I wish I could just laugh it off, but people with that mentality are actually in charge of stuff in this country.... which is anything but funny!
Reply:I have to except JEHOVAH'S WISDOM Over Man's.

(Jeremiah 10:23) . . .I well know, O Jehovah, that to earthling man his way does not belong. It does not belong to man who is walking even to direct his step.

(Ecclesiastes 12:12-14) . . .As regards anything besides these, my son, take a warning: To the making of many books there is no end, and much devotion [to them] is wearisome to the flesh. 13 The conclusion of the matter, everything having been heard, is: Fear the [true] God and keep his commandments. For this is the whole [obligation] of man. 14 For the [true] God himself will bring every sort of work into the judgment in relation to every hidden thing, as to whether it is good or bad.
Reply:Blind faith that those with closed minds seem to keep taking on as "The Official Guidebook to the Path of Least Resistance". I can't stand when people say "Lay down all your scientific evidence and I'll prove you wrong" when A) that person was NOT alive 2000 years (and more) ago to prove ANYthing; B) the scientific evidence keeps proving more theories year after year; and, C) it has been proven that different leaders have twisted the words (or omitted them altogether) of the Christian Bible around to suit their needs or to control the masses, so the words that we read today aren't very reliable in places. The teachings of Jesus of Nazareth were so twisted that many people took them to read that women are "treacherous and unclean" and it's okay for them to be treated like third-class citizens, worse than pets or farm animals. I can't see any self-respecting woman go in for a religion that has once and often still tolerates behaviour like that!

Those who have been virtually brainwashed into believing certain things about ANY religion always think they're right, no matter if they're proven wrong, time and again. ALL people hate to be proven wrong and will go to their graves believing what they were taught is right, even with vast amounts of proof. The best thing to do is keep educating yourself, and politely refuse to listen when someone tries to preach at you about something you can not, in good conscience and education, believe in. Keep an open mind and heart, even in the face of those who say you're wrong - those people are doing the same, right! :)
Reply:There is an insiduous nature to religion - which should be openly discussed - this is about "programming" - ie. brainwashing which is evident in the constant preaching that is found in the Bible and other so-called religious text.

Any text which has this present - should automatically be discounted as having 'information' because it is already forcing the reader to believe in nonsense.

It is clearly designed to instil the fear of God into any unbeliever and to give them no choice but to believe .. by offering them heaven or hell.

Whatever goodness it once contained - has been corrupted by the fanatical need to convert unbelievers such that it (that religion) becomes all powerful and all controlling...

This is what the agument against religion is about basically - it is not really about information versus information...
Reply:No, it's not in the slightest bit reasonable. The Bible is one long unsupported assertion. Science supports its assertions with arguments and evidence.
Reply:No just do what all the other resonable christians do, pray like hell on yeur death bed in case the bible is right
Reply:Scientific evidence changes by the day. The Bible doesn't. Can you argue against it? Sure. God didn't prohibit arguments. But try to argue religion with theology not science. the Bible doesn't try to argue religion with science. Only the atheists and agnostics do that.
Reply:Well, i don't believe in the Bible and I believe in all the scientific stuff, so...yay me.

Peace and lurve.
Reply:Well I know there's like a lot of evidence that shows bibles credibility is questionable but I don't know, it's hard to know them all.
Reply:how old are you have you been around that long if so which I clearly don't believe you have write a book yourself and try turning it into one of the worlds best sellers do you except that challenge
Reply:Not everybody can face the thought of ploughing through "mountains of scientific evidence"

It's much easier to just have faith in God and then (without any effort at all) one has a complete knowledge of the universe --- God did it! Isn't God amazing?
Reply:Mountains of scientific evidence proving what? That there are still more questions then answers.

So, do you think that the Bible was written as a vast conspiracy to promote a hoax? Do you have any idea what it would have taken to do that?
Reply:Please list your evidence. I can rebut it.
Reply:It is very reasonable!

You should question everything as through this means Knowedge is gained.

This includes the Bible or any other text no matter how old it is.
Reply:We use Gilgamesh and the Iliad and Odyssey as history books, as likewise we use the Old and New Testament and other religious books from various time periods to help format views on how history occurred. Obviously, there is some credence to a book that old.

But what does it matter?

You know what I don't get? I believe in G-d, or at least something like it, but I also believe in evolution and the big bang theory. You know why?

Because the Bible, as much credence I am willing to give to it as a formation for religion, is really a bunch of Aesop's tales. It is not meant to be factual, and there is no reason why G-d couldn't have harnessed the tools of evolution to create man.

There's also no reason why G-d couldn't have ignited the Big Bang, especially considering that scientists don't have an explanation as to why the Big Bang happened, or what came before it.

And personally, faith is called faith because you do not need evidence. It's great if science contributes to your religion, but it shouldn't take away from it when it goes against something you believe.

I think these arguments really factor between two groups:

those literalists who take the Bible fro every word it says to be true, and those who so vehemently deny the Bible and all its worth, who are trying to force themselves on others that don't agree like they do.

And seriously, why attack the Bible only, as I am assuming that is what you are doing. Why not the Qu'ran, or all the other books written at that time which make religious claims?
Reply:no. which is why i believe that religion is the result of a psychological problem and should be treated as such.

Why did janie go to New Jersey in the book the face of the MIlk carton???
I think she went to New Jersey for the fact that it was her face on the milk carton. Think about it... You're at school eating lunch and you look at a milk carton and... BAM... you see you're own face. Wouldn't you be a little curious about the people who put your face on a milk carton?
Reply:I don't know, perhaps it was her calling?

TThe name of a book containing a man from war whos face/limbs have been blown off?

My English teacher was telling me of this book where a man was in war and got his face and limbs blown away and basically was just a stub who couldn't see, talk, or communicate in any way but could still think clearly and hear everything. Ring any bells?

I really need the name or author at least. Thanks.

TThe name of a book containing a man from war whos face/limbs have been blown off?
Try Johnny Got His Gun by Dalton Trumbo-- very powerful book. I read it in high school. The description from wikipedia:

A World War I-era American soldier in a hospital realizes that he was hit by an artillery shell and lost his arms, legs, ears and most of his face. The remaining torso and head is being kept alive by machines.

What is the theme of the book ''the face on the milk carton''?

Erm...know who you're parents are?

%26lt;-%26lt;

I dunno. Maybe, it's easy for a life to be turned upside down

What is the theme of the book ''the face on the milk carton''?
Since I've never read the book, I don't want to give you an incorrect answer. However, I'll do all I can to help you by quoting the dictionary definition of theme. A theme is

1. a subject of discourse, discussion, meditation, or composition; topic: The need for world peace was the theme of the meeting.

2. a unifying or dominant idea, motif, etc., as in a work of art.

At the very least, I hope this helped you to clarify what theme is and apply it to the novel...I'm sure it'll come to you. Best of luck!
Reply:Wow. It's nice to see people here know what they're talking about. The word I'm thinking of isn't coming to my mind, though. It's kind of like regret. I'm sure there is more then one theme though. I'll edit my answer if I can come up with something better :/ Try spark notes though.
Reply:I don't know about the book but they had one of those made for tv movies with that title that played on either Lifetime or ABC Family I can't remember which. It was about a girl who got kidnapped and years later was reunited with her birth family.

Reply:The Face on the Milk Carton is about Janie, a girl who eats the same lunch everyday - a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and a small carton of milk. Janie always looks at the back of the carton to see the picture of the missing child. One day when Janie flips the carton over she sees a picture of herself as a little girl. Janie goes to her mom and asks to see her birth certificate. Her mom asks why Janie wants to see it. Janie makes up a little white lie, but her mom still does not show her the certificate.

To find out who that girl is on the back of the milk carton, read this book. I recommend it to people who like mysteries and suspense.

In the book, The face on the milk carton, who are Janie's Parents??

Do you know??

In the book, The face on the milk carton, who are Janie's Parents??
Biological parents - Brian and Miranda Springs (siblings, Stephen and Jodie)

Adoptive parents (grandparents) - Frank and Donna Johnson

supposedly her mother - Hannah Javensen (Frank and Donna's daughter)
Reply:Who are her acting parents or her real parents? I'm not sure what you're asking. It's a good book, and so is the sequel "Whatever Happened to Janie." There are two more sequels, but I wasn't as fond of "A Voice on the Radio" and I haven't read the fourth one.
Reply:Her "real" parents, as in birth parents, are Jonathan and Donna Spring. Her adoptive parents (who thought they were her grandparents) were Frank and Miranda Johnson.

I only knew about one of the sequels. I'll have to check out the others as well!
Reply:The family who she finds after seeing herself on the milk carton are her parents.

A book summary on the book The face on the milk carton and also the cover of the book?

In short, Janie is a young girl who goes to school one day and the face of the young girl on the missing children milk carton picture is herself as a 3 year old. She recognizes herself, and is in shock, and has to confront her parents about it. They tell her that in actuality she is not their daughter but their granddaughter, or at least that's what they thought. It turns out that their wayward junkie daughter had kidnapped Janie when she was 3 and brought her to her parents, but they thought she was just bringing them her kid that she could no longer take care of. She goes on a search for her real parents with her boyfriend, and finds them. They never stopped believing she would come home, but since she doesn't remember them, it's really awkward for the whole family, since the other children have grown up around the myth of Janie. Two of the kids were older and blamed themselves for her disappearance, because they told their mom they'd watch her in the store and then ran away in an attempt to scare her; the other two kids, twins, were born after she was kidnapped and have had to deal with their parents' overprotectiveness. It deals a lot with how Janie learns to cope with her "new" family, and with who she really is.

There are two sequels to this book (actually, I think there is a third one, but I never read it) called Whatever Happened to Janie? and The Voice on the Radio. They are very good books.

There is also a made-for-television movie based on the first two books, called The Face on the Milk Carton, starring Tracey Gold (of Growing Pains fame!).

A book summary on the book The face on the milk carton and also the cover of the book?
A good place to start with any book and requests like this is Amazon.

http://www.amazon.com/Face-Milk-Carton-C...
Reply:The book carton has a school milk carton on it with the face of a missing girl. Years ago it was common to do this in public schools to help locate abducted children. This practice was stopped because of the fear it created among children. From this you should be able to deduce what the book is about.

Do you take your preferred Holy Book for face value/literally?

I've seen that many quetsins about religion are often answered in one sentence with the source listed as "the Bible." Yet the purpose of the these forums is to generate discussion and debate, whether scholarly or layman.

The truth is that the Torah, the Bible and the Qur'an all have parts in whichthey are clear, bu also parts which can have several (or hundreds) different interpretations. Islam, for example, has several different ways of discussing the contents of the Qur'an and even the beliefs and attitudes of believers (Tafsir, ijtihad, halaqa...) (as do the Jewish and Christian folks--all three seem to have lost this attitude favoring discussion).

My point is, how do answers like "Because the [Book] said so" further knowledge, understanding and spirituality? Is there merit in in asking in depth questions about the morals, codes, and laws in whatever Book you go by?

Do you take your preferred Holy Book for face value/literally?
I don't take the Bible at face value. I think that insisting upon literal interpretation of a book full of mysteries is a bit frightening. I don't think that anwsers like "Because the Bible says so" are good for anyone, most of all the person who says them. I can't always anwser a faith question without the Bible (though sometimes), but even with it, you need to have an understanding of WHY. Recently, in preparation for the sacrament of Reconciliation, I was doing an examination of concience. At one point, a question came up about having serious doubts about my faith. I spent some time thinking about this. I believe the word "serious" is important. There are many parts of my faith that I don't understand. As I study them, I gain understanding, but this usually involves a process of questioning the belief, looking at various points of view, etc. It is important to THINK about what you believe. (I also happened to believe that it is important to trust in your belief system; as a Catholic, I trust what the Church teaches, though I often spend time trying to understand WHY she teaches what she does.)
Reply:I really think that a well thought out answer should include the path taken to arrive at the conclusion (at least in summary) for this very reason.

How can an asker be really helped, by an answer that does not also include the reasoning and references that formed the answer?

If a person holds an opinion, they should be able to at least reference (if not quote) the passages that led them to that opinion.

What did the book " The Face On The Milk Carton" teach you?

I luv this book^^ i want to hear other peoples opinions and what it showed you.

What did the book " The Face On The Milk Carton" teach you?
Wow--been a long time since I read that one...I guess it made me realize that a family is just the people you have around you and that love you and take care of you. Genes don't matter that much, anyone could be your "parents".
Reply:oh yeah i loved that book..i believe i was in 8th grade when i first read that book...i remember that i read the sequel to that book, but i don't remember the story...anyway, the story was good, touching, coz the girl is the one who saw her baby pic on the milk carton, then she sets out to seek the truth about her past...she then finds her real family, and the rest is history...i would recommend that book to young teenagers...

If, when you're logged into messenger, your status is invisible but someone on your list still sees you as 'online', check two things:

First, right click that user's name on your list and check the individual stealth setting for that person. Adjust accordingly.

If that's set as invisible yet they still see you,, look in preferences under the 'privacy' tab, and make sure you don't have the option to be seen when logged into other yahoo sites in the top section, or to change your status automatically when you use Launchcast, are in Games, or have web cam opened. Be sure to click 'apply' and ok, after changing any settings in preferences.

It can be banned in schools, libraries, book stores, or any other place?

Is the book "The Face on the MIlk Carton" by Caroline B. Cooney banned ?
Books aren't banned across all libraries, stores, etc. in the United States. Instead, books are "challenged" by a concerned reader or parent, and the library can choose to remove that book from its shelves (this might happen on a statewide or district-wide basis). "Face on the Milk Carton" is frequently challenged, but it isn't outright banned.

Bookstores can sell whatever books they choose - a company may choose not to sell a certain book because it doesn't reflect the company's values or because they deem it offensive, but in this country books are not banned from stores.

When I was in junior high school the book was banned

I dont remember why

and this is in Idaho so it was 3 years ago to 6 years ago

I remember we had to study a thing of which books were banned and why

It's completely retarded in my opinion

The book "the face on the milk carton" questions?
O man....I read the book. I can't remember those details! O.k here is a guess.

1. 3?

2. She sees her picture on the front of a milk carton at school. She recognizes the dress in the picture , and she realizes that she had been kidnapped. Turns out that her "parents" loco real daughter had kidnapped Janie and the daughter told her parents that Jennie was her daughter. She bailed and left Janie with her parents. They raized her thinking that she was their grand daughter, and told Janie she was their daughter. Lol I totally sucked at explaining that!

Oatmeal-honey face masque from Klutz book?

I did an oatmeal-honey face masque from one of the Klutz brand books a couple of years ago, and it worked great, but I don't know the exact recipe. Help?

Oatmeal-honey face masque from Klutz book?
http://homebeautytips.blogspot.com/searc...
Reply:I know about a simple oatmeal facial that removes blackheads - (you could also mix honey in it, which is quite healthy for your skin). You mix enough hot water with 2 minute oatmeal to make a paste, then smooth on the skin and leave it until it has dried. Afterwards, use a dry washcloth to rub the skin. It helps to remove a lot of blackheads. Then rinse the remaining residue from the skin. Rinse off whatever is left on your face.

Reply:It is simple yaar,

Face value means value appear on face of the instruments in your case it is share only normally it is in multiple of RS. 10

Now a days many companies go for small face value such as Rs.1

Book value means value calculated by book only. Its tottaly depends on method of accounting that campany follow.

Thanking You

Reply:it doesn't matter because neither are relevant to where the stock will go, unless you think the company may be bought out then book value may come into play.

I am being a bit childish with a girl who hurt me years ago, as she wants to be my face book friend and I am?

not confirming it, what do I do?It's just that she really hurt me at the time, I know that it was years ago and we are in the same university together but it still hurts when I think about what she did!

I am being a bit childish with a girl who hurt me years ago, as she wants to be my face book friend and I am?
i think you should be more concerned about just letting it go. why hold on to such ridiculous baggage. it's over and done. i mean look at what you just asked, you're in a dilemma over adding someone on face book? that should show you that even though it is childish, that you have been holding onto it for all these years and it needs to be dealt with. weather it be by telling her how bad she hurt you. or realizing that $hit happens, people are *** holes. and that stressing over someone adding you on facebook is a waste of emotion. press deny and forget about this b i tch.
Reply:Don't confirm her then! She's probably not waiting on the other end hoping you'll say yes. Do what you feel is right
Reply:Dont add her, sometimes its fun being childish.
Reply:it is easy to hold grudges and it is hard to let go of them. but it seems like such a long time ago i think it would be silly not to accept her. i mean you are adults now and even if you don't talk you are working along side her at univeristy. unless you still have feelings for her i think you should accept her, its all in the past now and you should start looking forward to the future.

x
Reply:You either learn to forgive and move on from your past experience, and more importantly, learn from it for the future,or move on from this girl that caused the hurt that you still can't get over.
Reply:Bin her! Or better still, add her, post the story of what she did to you on her page and on all her friends.. and then bin her!!!
Reply:Grow up dude...............
Reply:Dnt confirm it, grow up an move on ure wasting ure life on her
Reply:What the heach did she do so bad anyways?

It's just facebook, it's not like she want you to be friends again, so you could accept her.

If you still don't want to, send her a message telling her why, and the aact that you can't forgive her.

Cheers.

Try talking to her one more time. Tell her that if she doesn't take the pics down, you'll report her. Give her a deadline (say end of the day or whatever is reasonable). Than if she doesn't do it, report her.

How can i get a school email if my school doesn't have them i need it for face book....?
Just tell them you don't have a school email because not all schools (especially high schools) assign one. I know they didn't at mine back when I went...then again I'm in the U.S.

Btw, You don't have to use a student email address to sign up. You can use a personal one....that's what I did cause I'm not in school at all. (I'm almost 25 %26amp; stopped going to college a few years ago...working full-time.) When signing up you just have to opt out of choosing a school network....instead, choose the network of the closest big city to you. (They don't always have smaller cities listed.)
Reply:You can't..if your school doesn't have emails for students, you can't have a student email? Duh?
Reply:facebook allows you to make an account now even if you dont have a student emaill..check it out.

when it asks you whether u want to join a school or a work community thing, just click no.

What The hell is the news saying that myspace users should watch what they put on myspace and face-book?

Well i just don't understand why every time i watch the news theres always something about myspace or some little whyte girl getting kid-napped or lost in the d***n woods from being on these sites............. and now it's about how much myspace is gaining more members then yahoo and google................but i really think some how all this bull was planned cause ova 8 sites were disabled and right now all r working except 4 myspace ............... i just wanna koe what'z every-bodies reason on what'z going on

What The hell is the news saying that myspace users should watch what they put on myspace and face-book?
It's because parents refuse to be responsible for what their children do. Instead of being a REAL parents, they just stick their kids in front of a computer and expect them not to get into trouble. Look at all of the 12 year olds that say they're 18 so they can talk to older guys. Children should not be allowed on the internet unless they have proven to their parents that they are capable of making right and wrong decisions. The only problem with myspace is the fact that parents are too lazy to watch their children.
Reply:whatever you do it does help to be careful, agree?
Reply:It's because people are faking their age. Like 14 year olds are saying that they're 16 or 17 when they're not, and then they do stupid things. They go out and meet 25 year old guys that pose as 16-17 year olds, and then they sneak out of their house and do stupid stuff.

It can be helped if the sites kicked things up a notch and said something along the lines of: "If you are not 15 or older, you cannot join this site." So, in turn, the people who moderate the site are not doing their jobs themselves.

This, of course, starts a chain of unneccessary precautionary measures that shouldn't have to been have taken, and everyone gets shocked and surprised when they knew it was going to happen eventually.

Hope this helped.
Reply:well with a name like babygirl, Im assuming your young, well young lady, sometime older men like younger boys and girls, and since the Internet is anonymous, they can pretend to be young as well, so they can arrange to rape these small children, the news stories are saying children shouldnt tell strangers where they live or any other personal information.

Why cant i see my friend list on facebook or send a message to them using face book?

is it just me or is anyone else having the same problem

Why cant i see my friend list on facebook or send a message to them using face book?
when you click on friends, you might have to choose "everyone" to see all your friends. I noticed that it has changed recently.
Reply:My Facebook is working just fine.

Try refreshing the page or restarting your computer. A lot of people have been having functional problems with Facebook for the past few months, but I haven't heard of anything permanent. I'm sure if you wait a few hours, everything will be up and working again.
Reply:i'm having the same problem and it's lasted for a few days now!

i've checked on other computers, re-installed firefox, cleared cookies/browsing history etc and nothing works. i'm thinking there's either some sort of bug going around or it's just a facebook malfunction.

isn't it frustrating? i can't post wall comments either.
Reply:I'm having the exact same problem. I guess it's a bug. I hope facebook knows about it. If anyone figures out how to fix it, will you let me know please??
Reply:I have the exact same problem since yesterday and I don't know why. Everything was fine before that and it's the same computer anyway. I sent an email through support on facebook but I haven't receive any reply. I am surprised to see so many people are having the same problem. Can someone actually tell us what's happening???

Whats a good website for teen girls around the age of 12-14 no myspace or face book !!!!?

Girls under 14 aren't supposed to be on MySpace or Facebook. In fact, all the social networking stuff really isn't appropriate under that age -- there are some "modified" chat functions at places like barbiegirls.com and be-bratz.com but you need the dolls and 12-14 is probably too old for dolls. (Ditto for things like webkinz and clubpenguin.)

Try out these sites:

girlsense.com

beaconstreetgirls.com

stardoll.com

Whats a good website for teen girls around the age of 12-14 no myspace or face book !!!!?
I dont really know. Maybe Bebo or High 5. But let me tell you right now, every teen girl has a MYSPACE.
Reply:Since you mentioned myspace or facebook, I guess you're looking for a social networking site?

You might like http://www.bebo.com - it's aimed at a younger age group than myspace and facebook are, so it should fit with your 12-14 range :]

hope that helps!!

Help! I like this crush in the other school, he added me on email, and face book, but...what does that mean?

1. Examine his body language. If he likes you, you may see that he leans towards you. Notice if he shows off in your presence. For example:

* He may approach you and try to impress you, or get your attention by doing something cool, impressive, or funny.

2. Keep close. Do you ever get the feeling that somebody is in your personal space, so much so that you want to step back? If he likes you, and you like him, neither of you will step back.

3. Notice his eye contact. If he likes you, he'll try to catch your eye and hold it. This can be uncomfortable if you don't like him (or vice versa). If you feel like you have held eye contact just a fraction of a second longer than you would with anyone else, or if he looks away quickly, then there is something there.

* His pupils may dilate if he likes you, but this is quite hard to pick up on, and you might come across as acting strangely by looking that closely into his eyes.

4. Be aware of touching. He might put his hand on your arm when he laughs, or not move his leg if it happens to touch yours. Little things like this are a very good sign of a guy liking you.

5. Watch for him showing interest in things you like and do. Notice the way he treats you - does he playfully tease you, or call you names, just to try and get your attention? It's natural for a guy to tease when he likes a girl, but remember, someone can still tease someone, even if they aren't attracted to them. But remember, some guys simply will not tease you.

6. Check for signs of nervousness Nervous laughter, sweaty palms, fidgeting, looking away quickly when you notice if he is watching you are all good signs of an attraction towards you and that he is nervous about making an impression on someone he fancies. Also notice if you call his name, does his head snap around right away or does it turn gradually?

7. Smile - a big smile in return is a good sign. See if he always ends up in the same part of the room as you; perhaps he keeps going out of his way to bump into you and to flash his smile in your direction.

8. Pay attention to his friends. If they know he's interested in you, they might tease him subtly when you're around, hint to you that he likes you, or even try to find out if you like him. Study their reactions to your presence - do they smile? Do they turn to him? Do they smirk in a way that suggests they know something that you don't? If so, then there's a good chance that they know that he really does like you.

9. Have a friend ask him. Try to get someone who is basically unknown to the guy ask him what he thinks about other girls - the conversation doesn't necessarily have to involve you, but you could ask your friend to drop subtle hints, or try in any way possible to find about anything they can about his feelings towards you.

10. Be open! Give him room to approach you and talk to you - it can ruin the situation if he hasn't got any opportunity to do so, for example if your friends are giggling in the background, or you are never on your own.

11. Notice his behaviour in conversation. Sometimes when guys ask you questions and other people distract the conversation or cut him off, he'll just forget about it. If you notice that he keeps asking or changing the subject back to the question until you answer, then he may like you - but if the topic is something serious, he may just want to know out of curiosity.

12. Dances are a great place to test the waters! During a slow dance he might ask you to dance. Pay attention while you're dancing - do you look at each other, then smile and look away? Does he seem happy to be dancing with you? This is a very good sign! If you ask him to dance and he says yeah it is a good sign, but be aware that some guys just say yes to any girl because they don't want her to be offended.

13. Notice these tell-tale signs:

* If he wants to talk to you all the time,

* If he starts acting nicer when you're around him,

* If he says yes to all the things you ask him to do,

* If he treats you differently to other girls,

* If he looks at you a lot every time you smile or laugh.

* If he acts immature around you, like poking, teasing or playful flirting,

* If he seems to always want to hang out with you,

* If he gets closer with a body part, or if he tries to touch you,

* If you catch him peeking at you and he smiles,

* If he tries to make you laugh, or if he tries to copy you,

* If he walks up to you out of the blue and hugs you,

* If he tries to keep you in view for as long as possible, or tends to look around and stop when he finds you,

* If he subtly looks at you but makes it look like he is looking at the girl next to him,

* If he goes out of his way to talk to you, for example if he goes to the other side of the school to talk to you because he knows you have a class there.

* If you block him on instant messenger and stop talking to him, and he finds a way to talk to you,

* If he invites you to his birthday party or any kind of party,

* If you flirt with a friend of his when he can see, and he looks jealous or automatically flirts back,

* If he talks to you and wants to know how your doing,

* If he is nicer or tries to talk to your friends.

Tips

* If he tries to talk to you, let him.

Always let him be open to you.

Warnings

* Try not to be aggravating!

* Beware of friendly, outgoing, flirty guys. You might think he likes you but he might be like that with everyone and not realize how it is making you feel about him and his intentions.

* Jealousy is not pretty. Avoid it.

* If he seems comfortable talking to you about other girls, he probably does not like you in "that way". (Either that, or he is trying to make you jealous, which might mean that he likes you but doesn't reflect too well on his character).

* Sometimes, a guy will confuse you. He'll flirt with you all year, constantly, every day, smiling, flashing you the peace sign, talking to you, everything, and when you ask him out he'll say no, but when school starts again he'll flirt three times as much, and if you ask him out, he may say no again. Boys are impossible to figure out until it's too late.

* If a guy genuinely likes you he will show, don't go overboard trying to get him to like you.

* Beware - sometimes you might just see what you want to see. You might think he likes you, but maybe he doesn't. Even if he pokes you, teases you, stares at you, there's a chance it's all just you. Try not to be paranoid and bug all your friends or be too overconfident and poke him back. Things like that can be annoying.

* Some guys may act a little like they like you too but sometimes they don't, he may just act (if he knows that you like him) so he doesn't hurt your feelings. If you feel like your situation is like this, just stop. Understand that he doesn't find you interesting, there will be more guys!

* Watch out for the subtle guys. If he asks you something that could potentially be a date but your not really sure, make sure its clear before you agree to it. It can be uncomfortable when one of you thinks you're on a date, and one of you thinks you're not.

* One thing that you definitely need to look out for is, if he's just trying to get to know you better, or if he's just using you, it might seem like he likes you, but sometimes he could be messing around and telling all of his friends that he's just trying to get with you, yet not BE with you.

* If he has a friend talk to you all the time, he get nervous when he talks to you for the first time. You know what that means, he may try to act cool and over do it, so try to accept everything he says and act like you under stand every thing he's saying.

How long should wait or when should u invite someone to be ur friend on face book?

if u havent talked to them alot

How long should wait or when should u invite someone to be ur friend on face book?
you should wait awhile and get to know the person, or if you know the person through a friend you'll be fine, it also depends on the person, how do you think that person would react. also people want to have alot of friends on face book any way. If it is the opposite sex go for it, if it is the same sex wait awhile
Reply:3 seconds past the moment you get the idea, he who hesitates is lost.
Reply:may be when that friend of yours asks himself or just wait for a month or so and when you feel he is trustworthy , grab an opportunity to invite him..i hope you get it..
Reply:i cant imagine what you are trying to say

I was on my computer last nite trying to put some stuff on my face book and then my mouse stopped working and?
Sounds like to me that it's more than a mouse problem........ have your computer checked out by a computer tech....... good luck.
Reply:First Try Restoring Your Computer And Disk Defragment If You Don't Want To Do That And Check Your Memory Settings And If None Of Them Work Look Into A Different Harddrive But Also Keep In Mind That Some Viruses And Spyware Can Cause That.

Friends of mine think I have my own computer just because I am on Face book but I dont, if they find out they?

might look at me differently, what do I do?

Friends of mine think I have my own computer just because I am on Face book but I dont, if they find out they?
Why would they care? If they r really ur friends it wouldnt make a difference
Reply:You shouldn't bother with them, if they feel this way. If they treat you differently, they are shallow people, and you don't need people like this in your life, that make you feel down about yourself.
Reply:they are not friends then sorry, everyone uses other peoples computers, don't worry about it, they are shallow if it makes a difference
Reply:Those people aren't friends, if you not having a computer causes them to drop you. While it's unusual not to have one nowadays, you have no obligation to do so.

That's not something I'd be concerned about...go about your life and don't be ashamed you have no computer. That is SO not worth stressing over.
Reply:Umm, i take it your a student. You should be more interested in studying (yeah rite) and boozing to care about a flaming computer!
Reply:It shouldn't matter Ben, if they are good friends they won't care. They won't find out if you don't mention it....

What well known companies were started in a college dorm room ? (Examples: Dell, Yahoo, Face-book). Thank you

FedEx started with the guy submitting it as a business plan for a class. He got a bad grade on it, because the professor thought it was ludicrous to have a central facility where all the packages are processed. But he went ahead with his plan, and look where it went!

I am an adult who knows nil what actually is my-space or face-book that my children may get into soon?

just make them give you their password and log in once in awhile to see who they are conversing with and delete any friends that are not there age.... Do not tell them NO myspace or facebook because they will still do it and then it will be a secret and you will not know who it is dealing with your kids

I am an adult who knows nil what actually is my-space or face-book that my children may get into soon?
..You sound like me%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;I knew nothing until my niece came to live with me,,,,make sure you get a password so you can check daily as to whats going on,,As you know ,,there are a lot of weirdos out there in cyber-space and you don't want your child being drug into something that you cant know about!!!Great Question,,,hope every one here can help!
Reply:I would go on and make a page for myself and see what it's all about BEFORE I let my daughter on. Dig in and see how your children wouldn't just be talking to and have access to "their friends" but also to their friends friends and their friend and so on. That's what I did....you will be amazed!

If you do allow them to make a page........make sure you know all the info about the accounts and the passwords. Make sure you check it and see what kinds of comments they are being left and what they are saying.

I won't let my daughter have one.......but I might be a bit on the over protective side. I did and still do talk to her about WHY I won't allow it.

Good luck
Reply:Get familiar with it ... the best way, create your own accounts on both. (I think facebook is becoming more popular than myspace right now). Probably in the near future, something new will come about and kids will flock to that website.

Anyways, make sure you have your children set their profiles to "friends only." You can do this by going into the personal/profile settings, this way only people she/he invites will be able to see her account.

If you create an account as well, you will be able to see what she/he is putting on her page and telling everyone about herself/himself.
Reply:I suggest that you go to myspace.com, make yourself a little profile, and nose around. Same with facebook. I'm not sure how old your children are but it sounds like they are young and will need some supervision with it.

You'll get an array of answers that really won't tell you much necessarily. I found the best way is to go yourself (I made up a really basic profile in order to check on kids I worked with; it's easy and helpful.
Reply:myspace is were u can meet friends or if friends are already on there they can talk. u should help them set it up so u know the password and set the profile to pravite. that way no one can see there profile useless the person is thier friend. people can ask to be put ur kids have to approve them.
Reply:In my opinion not very good websites. Watch them closely. there is a lot of adult oriented material there.
Reply:Its a site where people friends can meet and chat and talk about anything and everything. Its harmless unless their targeted.
Reply:You will need to CAREFULLY monitor these technologies used by your children...educate yourself before they ever get on!!!
Reply:Social networking sites. Myspace is a place where they can add all of their little middle school friends, read each others personalinformation on their profiles, send each other sexually explicit bulletins, be targeted by spam accounts with near-pornographic profile pictures that try to get them to visit their website and view "cam-whores", and generally have good time.

Facebook is like myspace, but is a lot cleaner, more friendly environment.

How can I stop a family member (teenager) from using programs like messenger, face book inappropriately?

Is there a way to adjust these programs so that (for example) messages containing certain key words are automatically deleted? Others in the family use these programs properly and don't want them removed completely from the family computer, but we all agree that one of us shouldn't have access anymore, but I don't know the technical procedures needed to do that.

Please do suggest we sit and discuss it - done that, been there. I am looking for technical advice on how to

a) reconfigure our family computer so one of us isn't able to text message anymore - or -

b) set some controls to 'edit' the content of the messages being sent and received.

Thanks for any advice you can give us.

Lock up the computer in a cupboard.

If that doesn't work... lock up the teenager.

Reply:If you are a true novice and don't want to spend much time learning how to make a site, I would suggest the current super-popular MySpace. You can quickly get your information up for all your friends to see.

If you are interested in something more, but still fairly simple try GeoCities or Yahoo.

If you are willing to learn HTML I would suggest ATSPACE.COM. You can create a website for FREE up to 50MBs in size. I have two websites through them and the uptime is great. NO ADS, NO BANNERS. You'll need an ftp program to upload your stuff. There's a good free one for personal use called "FTP Explorer". Of course you'll either need to learn HTML or use one of the WYSIWYG programs like FrontPage or DreamWeaver to actually design your site. e-mail me if you need some help...

If you want your own domain and have it hosted, I suggest ReadyHosting. You get 1GB of space unlimted e-mail accounts, FTP access and domain name registration all for $99 a year.

Web hosting site (FREE):

http://www.atspace.com

Web hosting site (COST):

http://www.readyhosting.com

FTP Explorer site:

http://www.ftpx.com

A couple of my websites:

Pioneer Baseball Website (ReadyHosting - Cost)

http://www.pioneerbaseball.org

My Son's Travel Team's Website (ATSpace.com - FREE)

http://tricountytitans.atspace

Family Website (ATSpace.com - FREE)

http://tim8w.atspace.com
Reply:Tripod, or FreeWeb.

OR

You can spend alot of your time on website making programs on your computer, pay money for a domain name, and post everything up on the domain, which would take alot of time, and knowledge.

Personally for me its Tripod.
Reply:start your own website. That will cost you less than $20 a month + Its ALL YOURS

No, it wasn't invented just to share photos; it's a networking site to keep in touch with friends and make new ones. Originally it was only for college students but it's now open to everyone.
