3. Kill Voldemort.
4. Deal with being w/o his love, school, Dumbledore, or any mentor figures. It's his first time on his own, trying to solve and do everything by himself and there is no room for mistakes.
5. Deal with the fact that his mentor, Dumbledore, may not have been what he thought.
Within finding the horcruxes there are many small problems, like discovering who R.A.B. is.
What are some of the major problems that Harry faces in the 7th book?
Well, the fact that Harry's connection with Voldemort is getting stronger. That the people he believes he can trust leave him or turn out to be Nagini. Finding the Horcruxes. Deaths of friends, the potential of his own death.

In my address book, what do the yellow faces mean, & what do the gray faces mean?
I sometimes find a yellow face next to some of my contacts. At the same time, others have a gray face.
In my address book, what do the yellow faces mean, %26amp; what do the gray faces mean?
yellow faces mean those ppl are online grey faces mean they are offline or using stealth settings
Reply:yellow faces = people are online

Reply:yellow faces mean online, your contacts is using their messenger.. You could w/ them, right there and then instantly. Send them message, if they response then start chatting w/ them.. Gray faces mean they are offline. They don/t open their yahoo messenger w/ voice. But there at a time they are online but on hiding. They don't want others to see them online but only to the person they are chatting w/.See messenger word above your your id. click then go down to word status, then comes the choices you are going to select such as, 'avalable, open talk, on phone, show i'm not visible, etc... then if you a message there will a status word beside your id saying wat you have selected.

How difficult is it to write and publish a book?
I want to write a book that acts as a rebuttal to everything that Ann Coulter has ever written. I'm going to call it. "Godly: The Government of Conservatism"
So, if I write this book, how hard would it be to publish? I'll be as wicked and acid-tongued as Ann Coulter, I'll just back up my statements with facts and try to make a more flattering face on the cover of my book.
I've written books before, and I think that it would be really, really fun to actually get this book written.
So, how do I go about this? I'm very serious. I want to do this. I'll do whatever it takes.
What should be my first step after writing this? How do you find a serious publisher? How do you get your book distributed?
Thanks for your help, guys!
How difficult is it to write and publish a book?
Take these steps....
1) Write your book...re-read...edit...edit again. Publishers want lines double spaced.
2) Get copy rights to your book before sending it out....Library Of Congress...cost approx. $30.00. Never send work out without a copy right.
3) Buy a book called "Writer's Guide", it is a must if you are serious. That book will list contact information to publishers, what genre they accept, if they accept 1st time authors, what format they accept and their guidelines.
4) Follow submission guidelines to the letter or you are wasting your time.
5) Again, before sending work...re-read and edit...do not waste their time by sending sloppy work.
6) From there it depends on the market and publishers you submit to.
BEST OF LUCK TO YOU!!!!
MOST IMPORTANT MAKE SURE YOUR QUERY LETTER AND SYNOPSIS SELL THEMSELVES! IF A PUBLISHER DOES NOT GET PAST THAT YOUR MANUSCRIPT WILL NOT BE SEEN. DO NOT SELF PUBLISH UNLESS YOU ARE DESPERATE! THAT IS CALLED VANITY PUBLISHING AND A REAL PUBLISHER WILL NOT TAKE YOU AS SERIOUS! A real Publisher pays "You". Rarely does a first time author make a lot of money....however, after your first book is out it is easier to submit to a larger publishing house.
Reply:You may want to really gather your facts on Coulter and know the info well. Then go talk with a publisher.
Reply:its not difficult if you are a good writer.
Reply:Well, for one thing, I've been at this for almost 20 years--y'know: Writing and finding out what works for me.
And I'm also a serious writer. I take what I do seriously.
But publishing a book (no matter how good it is), is even ten times--even a hundred times--more difficult than what they say on paper, or even in those interviews they have in one of Jeff Herman's writers' guides.
You're up against a lot of wanna-be authors and the road to getting published is incredibly tight--if not difficult.
First off, you have to know who you are going to go up against. You have to find out if other authors' had published anything similar to what you've created, and research it to the bone.
While you're doing this, look at those writers' guides by Jeff Herman, and find out which agent or publisher is open to your kind of book.
Write out a query letter proposal to your book, and send it out.
But be prepared to get rejected. It's nothing personal, it's just the nature of the industry.
Reply:I strongly suggest you write first....without a manuscript, I doubt that you will publish. With a manuscript, I doubt that you will publish, but at least there is a chance. Don't think writing is easy, for it is real work. I strongly suggest that you work very carefully on the first 2 lines of the proposed book, for publishers are so bogged down with manuscripts, if they are unimpressed with the first 2 lines, the manuscript is thrown on the heap. Good luck
Reply:write, no. publish, yes.
Reply:Writing is up to you. Sitting yourself down to write and rewrite the book until it is at a place where it can be submitted.
The next step is to go the library (Reference Section) and find a copy of Writer's Handbook.
Check through the numerous publishers to see those that may be interested in what you have to offer.
See what their requirements are for submission and whether or not they accept unsolicited manuscripts (some may require you to get an agent, and that's a feat in and of itself.)
Most publishers want to see the first three chapters and an outline for the rest of the book.
Reply:Writing the book is no harder than putting words to paper but to publish it is very difficult. You need an agent to sell it to the publisher and a publisher that will actually print it. They also do the distributing of it for you unless you get a publisher that does it for pay and then they will publish as many copies as you want and you pay them for it and then do the distrubution yourself. First you need a publisher and they will then tell you to get an agent or ask if you have one. Once you get into the writing game, you will have it a lot easier for the next one but the first is about like pulling your eye teeth with no pain killer.
Reply:it's hard to get published. Most companies only accept books submitted by agents, and it is hard to get an agent. when they take unsolicited manuscripts, usually only one person reads it (an intern of some sort sometimes) and if they don't think it's totally great and will make lots of money, they will not pass it on to the real people who publish. You see celebrities publish SUCKY books because their name will sell it; you could have the best book ever but no one knows you so they won't immediately buy your book. It costs a lot to market a book and carry it in the stores or whatever, so the publishing companies don't take chances on new talent often, but Stephen King could write a book of bad jokes and it would sell. J.K Rowling got turned down several times for Harry potter, and look how successful those books are. It is a lot of luck and timing and good luck to you! Oh or you can self publish but those books are not taken "seriously" and they are called vanity press.
Reply:Don't know Ann Coulter, but I know a bit about publishing.
Unless you are a published and well known writer, your best bet is to publish yourself. For a sum of 250pound (around 500 dollars) or less you can publish your own book. Just search on the Internet, many publishing companies out there are ready and willing to publish. Otherwise send a synopsis of what you have written to the well-known publishers with a s.a.e and they will answer with a yes or no.
Reply:After organizing your thoughts, then writing, editing, and editing again, you have to get it to a publisher for acceptance; then there's more editing (someone else will likely do it, much to your chagrin). This is not a quick process.
Don't bother trying to publish it on your own (like at Kinkos or whatever) because distribution would be next to impossible and you'd be out quite a bit of dough. If you've written books before, ask your current publisher for suggestions as to the right publishing house for acceptance and distribution.
Good luck - it's a worthy adventure despite the time and sweat equity!

The product of the page numbers on two facing pages of a book is 306. Find the page numbers.?
Let the consecutive page numbers be x and x+1. Then:
(x)(x+1) = 306
Distribute:
x^2 + x = 306
Subtract 306 from both sides:
x^2 + x - 306 = 0
Factor:
(x + 18)(x - 17) = 0
x = -18 or x = 17
(can't be negative!)
So the page numbers are 17 and 18.
The product of the page numbers on two facing pages of a book is 306. Find the page numbers.?
n(n + 1) = 306
n² + n - 306 = 0
(n - 17)(n + 18) = 0
n = 17 or -18
The pages must be 17 and 18. However, note that odd numbered pages are always on the right, so this does not reflect a real-world book.
Reply:The page numbers of two facing pages will be consecutive numbers.Let them be 'x' and 'x+1'.
Given
their product = 306
x(x+1) = 306
x^2 + x = 306
x^2 + x - 306 = 0
(x+18)(x-17) = 0
x+18 = 0 (or) x-17 = 0
x = -18 (or) x =17
Page number cannot be negative.
So x = 17
x+1 = 18
So, the page numbers are 17 and 18.
Reply:x(x+1)=306
x^2+x-306=0
Quadratic formula..
Reply:x = 1st page, x + 1 = 2nd page
Finding the no. of the 1st page:
x(x + 1) = 306
x² + x = 306
x² + x - 306 = 0
(x + 18)(x - 17) = 0
We choose the factor that will yield a positive number for x.
x - 17 = 0, x = 17
Page no. of the 2nd page:
= 17 + 1
= 18
Answer: The page numbers are 17 and 18.

The sum of the page numbers on the facing pages of a book is 281. what are the page numbers?
If n and n+1 are the page numbers, n + n + 1 = 281
2n = 280 and n = 140
So, the numbers are 140 and 141.
The sum of the page numbers on the facing pages of a book is 281. what are the page numbers?
Page numbers on facing pages are one number apart (i.e. 1 and 2, 5336 and 5337, etc)
Let x = the number of the page on the left
x + 1 =the number of the page on the right
x + (x + 1) = 281
2x + 1 = 281
2x = 280
x = 140 -----%26gt; x + 1 = 141
Therefore, the page numbers are 140 and 141
2n = 280 and n = 140
So, the numbers are 140 and 141.

Stranger Within My Face and Face on the Milk Carton?
i need help on these books. im in the middle of reading them.
next year, i have a strict teacher! she is the meanest. i need to be prepared to write essays on these books
Stranger Within My Face: by: Lois Duncan
Laurie was at home all day but people like her boyfriend saw her at the beach with another boy. Her mom and dad saw her go to some shops. So she is at home all day and outside all day......
Face on the Milk Carton: by: Caroline B. Clooney
Janie saw a little 3 year old girl on the milk carton that was missing. She saw the picture as if it was herself. It was...
so far, a girl saw her on a milk carton and it said she was missing, meanwhile she is not.
please help me about this.
Stranger Within My Face and Face on the Milk Carton?
If I remember The Face on the Milk Carton correctly, a teenage girl sees a picture of a three year old girl on the back of a milk carton, and it brings back a memory. It turns out that she is the little girl and that she was kidnapped at the age of three. The people raising her are the parents of the woman who kidnapped her. The woman had subsequently died, leaving the girl to be raised by her parents (who thought the girl was their daughter's birth child).
Once it comes out that the girl was kidnapped, her birth parents naturally want her back, but she is happy with the parents who raised her. This dilemma is the main issue in the book and the one your essay should address in depth.
Reply:Well, yeah. Finish reading them. If you've read them through a couple of times and honestly don't get the themes or whatever, then come on and ask. It sounds like you have a good teacher, one who will actually expect you to learn...do your homework, ask her to explain the things you don't understand, and you should be just fine. Promise, she's not evil...she wants you to do well. You just have to choose to.

The sum of the page numbers on the facing pages of a book is 573. what are the page numbers?

2x = 572
x = 286
x + 1 = 287

The product of the page numbers on two facing pages of a book is 240. What are the page numbers?
Let the page numbers be x and x+1
Therefore
x(x+1)=240
x^2+x-240=0
(x+16)(x-15)=0
Rejecting the negative value of x,we get x=15
Therefore,the page nos are 15 and 16
The product of the page numbers on two facing pages of a book is 240. What are the page numbers?
i know 15 %26amp; 16 fit your math criteria,
but page 15 and 16 don't face each other.

Reply:Two consecutive numbers who's product is 240 are "15" and "16"
15

Reply:15 and 16. The only consecutive numbers that multiply to 240.
Reply:If the pages are facing, then the page numbers are consecutive. If p is one page no. then p+1 is the next.
We are told the product is 240
p(p+1)=240
p^2+p-240=0
(p+16)(p-15)=0
Now for (p+16)(p-15) to equal zero, at least one of
(p+16)(p-15) must be zero.
If p+16=0, p=-16
If p-15=0,p=15
Can't have -16 pages (maybe the book is upside down!), so p=15, p+1=16
Pages are 15 and 16.
Reply:Let me ask this question: Is the book already bound together, or is it still in layout form, prior to printing and binding?
Reply:Well, it wouldn't be 15 and 16 because those wouldn't face each other.
Reply:The pages face eachother, so that means there are simply consecutive pages. So let x be the first page, and then x+1 would be the second page. Since the product is 240 we get that,
x(x+1)=240
Then just solve for x.
Reply:x(x+1)=240
x^+x-240 = 0
(x+16)(x-15) = 240
x = 15
x+1 = 16
But this is impossible since the left page is always even and the right page is always odd.
Thus there is no solution

since they're page numbers on two facing pages, then they're consecutive numbers, that is, they come after one another
thus if a is one of the numbers then the next page number must be a + 1 since its on just the next page
thus you have your equation
(a + 1) (a) = 240
a^2 + a = 240
a^2 + a - 240 = 0
(a - 15) (a + 16) = 0
a = 15, -16
a page number cannot be negative so a must be equal to 15
a = 15
a + 1 = 15 + 1 = 16
thus the two numbers are 15 and 16
Reply:Unfortunately, even though 15 and 16 do not face each other, those are the only numbers that I know of that multiply to 240. I tend to agree with the others that have responded.
Therefore
x(x+1)=240

I know how to use the stealth option to make myself invisible on my IM. However, I am well aware that I still appear online via the user's address book.....i.e. illuminated smiley face. How do I appear invisible or offline on the user's address book also?

How could Snape be undercover for the Order, when he faced down Quirrell in Book 1?
Snape is supposed to be deep undercover for the Order - but how can that be? When Quirrell had Voldemort on the back of his head - unknown to all but Quirrell - Snape faced him down about allegiances. Voldemort had to have heard, even if Quirrell had not spoken to him about it...
How could Snape be undercover for the Order, when he faced down Quirrell in Book 1?
He explains it to Bellatrix Lestrange in book six when she asks him the same questions. He did not know that Voldemort was with quirrel, and he would not risk his undercover status with Dumbeldore unless he was aware that Voldy was rising again, or his role as double agent would have been jeopardized for nothing. He couldn't let quirrel know that he was working for Voldy unless he knew for sure that quirrel was too. Voldy didn't even let his most loyal death eaters know that Snape was really still with him, he wanted them to wonder in case one of them was a spy for The order or Dumbeldore.
Reply:The Order of the Phoenix was the group that existed when Voldemort was in power, but everyone believed him to be dead after the curse he'd aimed at Harry backfired. After that, there was no need for the Order anymore. When Snape encountered Quirrell, there was no Order. It came into existence once again when it was realized that Lord Voldemort was still alive and attempting to regain power.
Reply:Well, he told Bellatrix and Narcissa in HBP that he couldn't show his true colours because at that time he was convinced the Dark Lord was dead. Besides he couldn't help Quirrel 'cause then Dumbledore would have known that he was really on Voldemort's side, and he couldn't risk his role as double agent. Also, Voldemort wouldn't show himself to Snape because he thouhgt he was gonna trun him in to Dumbledore...
Reply:Voldemort knows what Snape is doing. At that point he still thought Voldy was dead. He is definitley on the bad side, he made an Unbreakable Vow with Narcissa and Dumbledore didn't even know that.
Reply:could Snape's loyalties have changed since book 1?

If a online status in address book shows thier online but you can't im him what does it mean?
in my address book it showed a yellow face and on his profile it said online i could not im my contact it said he appears offline and will recieve my messeges when he sighs in does that mean hes invisable to me but online to who he chooses my messenger says he appears offline and will recieve my messeges after he signs in what does it mean is he relly offline
If a online status in address book shows thier online but you can't im him what does it mean?
Your friend has you 'stealthed' on his Messenger List.. He is actually 'online' but he has set his 'Stealth Settings' to be 'invisible' to you.
That's why you see his id in your Address Book with the yellow smiley face.
This is true in my case also. I am on 'invisible' status on my Yahoo Messenger, but I am showing 'online' on my Yahoo Answers Profile and on my Yahoo Profile.
These are ways of finding the real online status of a person, without the aid of software programs to check it.
Reply:Yahoo Messenger shows you who is running Yahoo Messenger and chooses to show themselves as being online. If you look at their online profile, you may see that they appear to be online, while YM says that they are not.
It is possible that they are online (signed into Yahoo), but not currently running Messenger. They also could be running YM, but just using invisible mode. This would give you the same "later dude" response.
Most likely, they are reading mail, but YM is not active on their machine.
Good luck!

What hidden codes are there in the Davinci Code? WHy is this book so popular?
I read this book and took it at face value; just a good mystery suspense novel. The whole book is about codes. When people talk about hidden codes do they mean something else? What would the codes point out? everything in this book gets resolved at the end.
What hidden codes are there in the Davinci Code? WHy is this book so popular?
Since you've read it, you already know what the codes are. I think it is popular mostly because of the controversy surrounding it.
I think readers ought to keep in mind that it is FICTION. Some seem to think that because Dan Brown included a lot of obscure facts (for example, the discussion of PHI) that those facts give legitimacy to the fictional claims made in the book. They do make the fiction more believable, but readers need to be careful to separate fact from fiction and not take every claim made in the book as truth.
Reply:Probably the most important hidden code, exists in DaVinci's famous painting, "The Last Supper", where the figure seated to the right of Jesus, is clearly feminine and beardless, and the positioning of their bodies form the letter "M", as in Magdalene. It is also believed that Judas is not portrayed in this scene, and the only explanation for there being 13 figures in the painting, is that there are 11 disciples, Jesus and Mary Magdalene, and since women typically would not travel with a group of men in those times, unless they were married to one of them, the logical explanation, is that she was his wife...
Reply:Well, old painters/scientists/inventors/thinkers from the Renaissance period used to put "secret codes" or subliminal images on their work; they found the thought of extremely surprised people (we) entertaining. They "hid" these mathematical codes in their paintings through the use of very complicated geometry based on the principle of golden proportion (which declares that all living objects, and sometimes constructions, have the same proportion ratio) which could be interpreted as a binary code or just a series of numbers that usually only made sense to certain people (theirselves and maybe a few other hardcore mathematicians). As you might know, Da Vinci was a great mathematic as well as an excentric bastard (he used to write all his journals backwards and crap like that). And well, in the story, he put some codes in the Mona Lisa painting which told of the darkest secret of the catholic church, that Jesus (Son of God) had had a romantic (as well as sexual) relationship with Mary Magdalena (the whore He saved from being stoned to death)... Oh, wait! That's another book! Oh well, at least now you have an idea of what kind of codes they were, haha sorry...

The sum of page #'s on facing pages of a book is 525. What are the page numbers. Need algebraic expression
I need the algebraic expression for this. I can't figure it out for the life of me. I am thinking you have to divide in 1/2?
The sum of page #'s on facing pages of a book is 525. What are the page numbers. Need algebraic expression
Transform observation into algebra. If the left page is (X) then the right page must be (X + 1). Now, do it.
Reply:x + (x+1) = 525
2x + 1 = 525
2x = 524
x = 262
262 and 263
Reply:x = page 1, y = page2
y = x + 1
x + y = 525
Therefore
x + (x + 1) = 525
2x + 1 = 525
2x = 524
x = 262
Therefore
y = 262 + 1
y = 263
The two page numbers would be 262 and 263

I've heard of this book. Its about this killer who loves killing people but puts it to a good use by killing bad people. I think he kills a bad priest in the book. The cover has a face with a dead bodies arm on it. Its also a TV series. Any help?

Reply:Jansports are the best. The smaller ones, I would recommend. A bookbag can give you a very awkward look, so I would recommend getting a small one that will not draw too much attention. The small jansports come in a variety of colors as well, so they're definitely your best option.

Good Book????
I like books like Twilight (NEED book like that!!) or like Face on the Mik Carton(that series) or like When it happens!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good Book????
You should try:
Wildwood Dancing by Juliette Marilier - adventure/romance. a combination of the 12 dancing princesses and the frog prince. It was really really good and kept me guessing the entire way through. (has vampires)
A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray - Adventure/slight romance. Set in the Victorian Era, it follows Gemma Doyle as she discovers her magic and that it leads her to a magic realm. Be warned that some parts are PG-13 though. Has sequels Rebel Angels and The Sweet Far Thing.
Peeps by Scott Westerfield - Action/Romance. A new take and vampirism. At the end, you think you have everything figured out and then it gets turned upside down.
I hope you find what you're looking for!

Reply:Walk Two Moons - Sharon Creech [adventure sorta]
Very heartwarming book. About Sal and her grandparents go through a journey through states to find her long-lost mother.
The Pearl - John Steinbeck [action/adventure]
It's about Kino and Juana finding a huge pearl. They plan to sell it at the capital after they refused the city's offer for it. They bring their baby, Coyotito, and... ah just read it. :]
Heart Beat - Sharon Creech [a tiny bit romance/becoming who you are]
Easy Poetic book. About 12-year old Annie, her B FF Max, and her pregnant Mom. Everything is quickly changing like and apple left out in the hot sun.
Chew On This! - Eric Schlosser [comedy/non-fiction]
Hilarious and gross book. It's about how you eating what you eat [mostly meat; chicken, cows, pigs etc.] affects everything else. Here's a passage:
-In 1975, the typical American drank about 120 liters of soft drinks a year. Today, the typical American drinks about 240 liters of soft drinks a year. That's well over 500 340ml cans of soft drink, per person, every year.

HELP! Face on the Milk Carton?
I have an unexpected book report/presentation on The Face On the Milk Caton!!!! I was going to get it 2morrow but it turns out its due then!!!! I need information on this book and i need it ASAP! whats the whole book about not just the brief summary i need the whole enchilada!!! Ok yeah i just need the whole thing pleez!!!!!!!!!
HELP! Face on the Milk Carton?
i must warn you i read it a long time ago so some things i dont remember.
Face on a milk carton is about a girl who sees her face in a milk cartoon at school (you know the ones that say call this number if you have seen her...and the day that she was lost/taken) at first she cant believe it and thinks that it must be a mistake. she searches her house and finds a box with the dress that the little girl in the pcture is wearing and that's how she knows the girl in the picture is her. she confronts her "parents" they tell her the truth what they know which was that their real daughter (which was not a nice person, drug attic) brought her to them when she was smaller and then left her there. so they decided to raise her as their own. she finds out the address of her real parents and goes to see them to see if they atleast look like her, and they do, even her brothers and sister, they have the same hair. the girl decides to call the number because she feels bad that her real parents probably think that the worst thing happened to her. so she calls and then she is forced to go live with her real parents even though she doesnt want to cause she doesnt really know them.
this is the first book in the series, but pretty much that's what this one is about.
hope i helped.
Reply:what is the conflict in the story?
Reply:Its about a Pirate that finds love in Rockland, Maine. Moves to Fort Wayne, Indiana where he then procedes to take over Canada using nothing but a salmon fillet and the awesome power of rock.
The Pirate is also a potato.
Reply:It's about a girl named Janie who sees her own face on a milk carton. It turns out that the people she thinks are her parents are not related to her at all, but they think they're her grandparents. She was taken from her real parents at the age of 3 by a Hare Krishna woman named Hannah, and Hannah told her parents that Janie (whose real name turns out to be Jennie) was hers and that they should take care of her. So Janie basically realizes her entire life has been a big lie. Try this link for more info -

Where I will get book written on Kishore Kumar - Kishore Kumar: The Many Faces of a Genius?
Well, I can't find a site on the Net that sells it, but
"All this and much more is contained in an invaluable compilation by Vishwas Nerurkar and others (Kishore Kumar: The Many Faces of a Genius: Gayatri Publications, Pp. 590. Rs. 1,200).
The volume also contains some rare photographs, comments, and observations by Amitabh Bachchan, Rajesh Khanna, Raj Kapoor, Dev Anand, Hrishikesh Mukherjee, Asha Bhosle, R.D. Burman, Gulzar, Sandeep Ray, and Khayyam and others. It has a complete list of solo and chorus songs, duets, songs in various languages, private albums as a singer, as a composer... . You name it, and it's all there"
You could go to the website of the publishing house:
http://www.gayatri-publications.com/
and perhaps order it from there.
Hope this helps.

A student opens a mathmatics book to two facing pages. The product of the page numbers is 1640.?
Find the page numbers.
The first page is_.
The second page is_.
A student opens a mathmatics book to two facing pages. The product of the page numbers is 1640.?
x(x+1)=1640
x^2+x-1640=0
(x+41)(x-40)=0
Your page numbers are 40 and 41.
Reply:Let x = first page
Let x + 1 = second page
x(x + 1) = 1640
x^2 + x - 1640
(x + 41)(x - 40) = 0
x = -41, 40
since page numbers are not negative, x = 40
The second page is x + 1 = 41
Reply:From the problem we know that:
x * y = 1640 Where x left page and y = right page.
We also know that:
x+1 = y Substituting x + 1 for y in the first equation gives us:
x * (x+1) = 1640 Do math on left side:
x^2 + x = 1640 Put in quadratic form
x^2 + x -1640 = 0 Using the quadratic equation we get:
(-1 +/- sqr(1^2 - 4 * 1 * -1640)/2 * 1 or
(-1 +/- sqrt(6561))/2 or
(-1 +/- 81) / 2 Which gives us two answers:
(-1 - 81)/2 or
- 42 which we can ignore as you cant have negative page numbers
We also get:
(-1+81)/2 = 40 Which gives us the value of x the first page.
Adding 1 to that we get 41, the second page.
Long answer for a simple question.
Reply:Let x be the lower page number
Let (x+1) be the next page number.
x(x+1) = 1640
x^2 + x = 1640
x^2 + x - 1640 = 0
(x-40)(x+41) = 0
x = -41 or x = 40
x = -41 is inadmissible
therefore, the page numbers are 40 and 41
Reply:40

A student opens a math book to two facing pages. The product of the pages is 1332. What are the page numbers
Let x = pg no
then x + 1 = next page
x(x + 1) = 1332
x² + x - 1332 = 0
(x + 37)(x - 36) = 0
x = 36 , ignore trivial negative solution
x + 1 = 37
Thus the two pages are 36 and 37
.
A student opens a math book to two facing pages. The product of the pages is 1332. What are the page numbers
They have to be consecutive numbers, p and (p+1).
So p(p+1) = 1332
p^2 + p = 1332
p^2 + p - 1332 = 0
Solve by FOIL (factoring) or quadratic formula, whichever you prefer.

Most of your shelf bought books are going to be about the same for care of your pets. You do, however, have a great resource at your fingertips. Type in Peach-faced Lovebirds Care Sheets and see what you get. You could also try About.com and excellent resource for just about anything. Or, try Petco.com for other online resources and items you can order. Good luck.

Where can I get the book about 4-faced Buddah, the one in Thailand?
I think u r referring to the Erawan shrine ( The Thao Maha Brahma or Phra Phrom Erawan Shrine, located at Bangkok’s Ratchaprasong intersection, is more commonly known to international visitors by a simpler name — The Erawan Shrine.
Within the Hindu trinity of supreme gods (Trimurti) — Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva, Brahma is the Creator of the universe and all living beings. The Erawan Shrine is consecrated to Lord Brahma, the deity believed to bestow good fortune and fulfill wishes. Brahma has four heads and four arms.)
Its a statue of Brahma not Buddha

Is it true that if you wipe your face with a makeup remover sheet and rinse your skin with warm water then..?
mosturize your face before you go to bed will make you stay younger and is the same affect as washing your face. i was reading this book called the manual writting steve santiago its a good book on relationships and he states that and im like wondering this is a guy what does he know but he states that he models for 20 years and thats what the smart models do to stay young if you wash everyday it keep streaking your something i dont know it made sense somewhat but what are your opnions on this one??
Is it true that if you wipe your face with a makeup remover sheet and rinse your skin with warm water then..?
If you are not prone to acne, use a makeup remover first for your eyes and then try a cold/cleansing cream.
EVERY NIGHT BEFORE BED: Apply a liberal amount of cleansing cream (Pond's) and rub it into your face for a few minutes as you are also giving your face a massage. Then, when you feel the skin is smoothed and softened, get a nice damp hot washcloth and gently wipe off all the cleansing cream. Follow up with a moisturizer and in the morning just rinse your face with water before your daily routine. Do not use soap or detergents on your skin if you can avoid it.
I am 40 and am told I look at least ten years younger. I am dating men in their mid 20's and they think I look great.
My aunts told me when I was still in single digits that the key to beauty was taking good care of your skin and MOISTURIZE, MOISTURIZE, AND MOISTURIZE. It has been great advice.
Reply:washing your face everyday can dry your skin out majorly.what i like to do is ill use a makeup remover sheet with skin softening extras then apply a little moistruizer.Mens skin isnt the same as womens. Also everyones skin is different.Id also suggest if u need a deep clean on your face use Dove beauty bar if you have it in your stores.
Reply:That is washing your face. But youthful appearance is a large part due to genetics and health factors, ESPECIALLY smoking. Smoking ages a face dramatically, especially around the mouth and nose.

In the book, "Till We Have faces" by C.S. Lewis, I am having trouble on figuring out the theme of the book...
I need help on understanding what the book's moral is, and how to understand it. If anyone could help me out with this one it would mean a lot to me!! I would appreciate it and thanks a lot!! ;]
In the book, "Till We Have faces" by C.S. Lewis, I am having trouble on figuring out the theme of the book...
It's been a while..
-Just because you can't see a thing doesn't mean it's not there. Maybe you don't want to see it, or haven't tried and developed yourself (or you have hardened your soul) and so the ability is not in you.
-God is harder to know than we imagine. God's purpose can take a lifetime to see. We can't look the gods in the face until we have "faces," which I take to mean real self-knowledge and insight beyond words.
I hope I'm not doing your homework for you, but I remember being very puzzled by the theme thing, and this is a difficult book.

Books that discuss face shape and how facial features relate to personality?
There are none written by genuine, contemporary social scientists, as there is NO correlation between facial features and personality. You may, however, find some pop psychology nonsense to support this sort of ridiculous notion.

Reply:Hogarth wrote a book about physiognomy in 1753, called' The Analysis of Beauty.' In it he advises the reader to study Charles Le Brun's works. The works detail what features on the face influence the personality, and vise-versa. The theories may be nonsense, but they are fascinating.

Does anyone know anything about face exercises?
I know there are books out on face exercises that claim they can be as effective as a face lift and can take ten years off your appearance. It doesn't seem to get any serious attn by the mainstream, but the concept makes sense to me. Anyone have any experience with them. I hate to make the time investment if there will be no results.
Does anyone know anything about face exercises?
Yes, I recommend you visit the site below. FlexEffect is a facial resistance training programme which actually builds muscle tissue in the face and neck.
I've been doing facial exercise for over 6 years and find them to be very effective if you target the muscle correctly and use resistance.

Reply:DO NOT DO NOT try facial exercises; you are working muscles that do not need to be worked....you would be better doing something to improve the circulation to your face; learn the proper way to do a headstand but be careful; you can hurt your neck if its not done right..facial exercises can create more wrinkles than you could imagine!! keeing your skin hydrated by drinking lots of water and lots of fresh fruits and vegetables and using a moderately priced facial moisturizer will do more to help you skin over the long run than facial exercises!!
Reply:yes, there retarded and a rip off for those devises no evidence they work
smiling prevents wrinkles, frowing causes more
science
Reply:I am an actor, so I may know of a facial exercise that may help you. Just imagine you bit into a lemon, and scrunch your face as tight as you can. Then think of a begging baby bird, and stretch your face as wide as you can. Do this as many times as you want.
Reply:I wouldn't swear to it but I think it's a con. Maybe I would look worse if I hadn't done them but whose to say ...I don't bother now and I'm no worse, Spend the same time working and earn enough for botox or even a face lift... much more of a certainty. In any case in the not so distant future we'll all be using stem cell technology which will revert us to our previous youthfulness.
Reply:I think you should think about this before you proceed, the face is delicate and repeated movementes will "age" your face (smiling is the exception). The body needs to exercise for overall tone and youth but the face is different. I think this is a hoax that appears logical.
Reply:Oh! you hate to make the time investment!!!
That was funny.

If you were reading a book?
Would you find it to be too much drama if the book is about a family who is finding their feet again after a father dies in a housefire, they lose their home, etc. and then later in the book, the daughter faces another fire and her friend dies in it? Does that sound too unrealistic?
If you were reading a book?
I wouldn't read it because I would cry through the whole thing. I think it would be believable to some people, though.
Reply:OK please tell me you did not read or write that book because that's just complete wack! Oh I dont think it's 2 much drama! no just kidding it totally is![%26lt;:}
Reply:nothing is unrealistic when writing a book, the whole point is how the facts are given by the author. i would emphasize on karma, on "meant to be" facts in the daughter's life. Another tip:make the daughter a little bit more confident and arrogant after the family disaster, a person that believes that can survive under any circumstances and disregards fate. That will make your book look like an ancient Greek tragedy where the heroin is being punished for being disrespectful and has to face the "mhni" (= anger)of the gods. And if this works well for your book, remember to mention me!!!! I'd be flattered!!!!
Reply:i think it would be real, i would read it:)

Did the dog in the story have a pet frog who roade on his back and sang rhytem and blues?
Reply:no as long as you do it artfully
Reply:well it would kinda be 2 depressing 4 me 2 read..i mean if only the dad died but then the best friend too!that would just mak eme depressed.
Reply:It sounds a bit much. There's a lot of tragedy to overcome. And why does it have to be fire the second time? Any type of double-loss would be difficult to overcome, but fire, twice in a lifetime? Horrific.

but then again if you go to developing countries you'd see people have that same situation every year. then again theyre pool illegal settlers, and probably not what's in the book.

Reply:That doesn't seem too unrealistic- just bad coincidence.
Reply:yes kinda, i think its too much disaster in that book. i like a book where there one complication, then little ones, but not too huge problems and on top of that, their kind of the same thing..fire and fire and death and death
Reply:NO IN FACT I WOULD FIND IT VERY FASCINATING many writers these days don't follow their veiw on things, they just write to impress readers but duh what is the point of writing a book (well if you are) without expressing the thought that was burning in you when you started writing it.If your a writer (of which i am ) well i have not published anything but one day i will, plizzzzz contact me i am eager to share my ideas.
Reply:The first fire where the family dies is great. (As a setting anyway.) Maybe after the girl is recovering while staying at her friend's house, her friend goes out with her boyfriend (romance attracts readers) and they never return. You can say they were in a car accident. Try to be creative, do it from your heart.
Reply:It's not too unrealistic. Anything really can happen in life. That person (real or not) can just have a bad luck streak. But I supose depending on your personal taste it can go both ways.
Reply:yah. the chances of that are like 1 to 999999.
i hate books like that.
Reply:Two fires in one book would be kind of a lot, unless you could establish that there was an arsonist in the neighborhood. Maybe someone she knows which is why it happened twice. In the town where I live, we had a rash of fires once. I woke up one morning to find my garbage out front burning. A friend of mine had their car filled with newspapers and burned. Turned out, it was a fireman doing it. He would always be the first on the scene and be claimed a hero. Now he is somebody's girlfriend in jail. Otherwise, I would have the friend die another way. Mention me in the book too lol... Pax - C
Reply:Not too unrealistic if it's the daughter setting the fires (dual personality?). Good luck.

Is reading and getting lost in a good book or novel, by doing this are you escaping reality, not facing up to?
the real world? by reading a book and getting lost in it, is it not helping you to face up to reality and get things done?
Is reading and getting lost in a good book or novel, by doing this are you escaping reality, not facing up to?
Hey Coop:
That is what reading a good book or novel is all about. You do get to have a feeling of escaping lifes issues and actually enjoying yourself for a little bit of time.
This not only goes for people with psych issues because that really has nothing to do with this. What does have to do with this is enjoying yourself just like everyone else regardless of psych issues or not.
So, pick a book, get comfy stick your nose in that book, enjoy, escape into the book for a little while. Go ahead...it's ok to allow yourself to be happy and with this, this is something I know you can let yourself be happy and escape for just a little.
Enjoy yourself!
Be safe and be well

Reply:Yes. You are. But thank God for that. If I had not had books to help me before I left home am sure the outcome would not have been good. Books opened up a world outside my own. And it was grand. I learned a few things while I did. And it gave me hope for better things.
Reply:Reading is a good thing. You have your daily life and stuff to do - if you are doing them no problem. Reading is a great way to relax and just enjoying the moment.
Reply:lots of people get immersed in books, i for one do, but if you relate them to all the video games and computer traps and stuff, reality through a book is not the same, but it's better than lots of what we are focused on now a days. you could say that by focusing on one thing, like a book, is denying your life and reality, and this can be true. you sometimes tend to pick up characteristics that you read in books, and i guess it could depend on what kind of books you read... fiction, non-fiction, fantasy? well... i guess it depends on your own self-control and if you know where to draw the line and say... okay... the dishes need to be washed... i better get up and do them and stuff like that. i hope i have helped you understand ur question!
Reply:you can say the same fro tv or movies, people watching hours of soap operas daily getting lost within the story. the only way i can see it being detrimental is if you only read or watch tv and don't actually live. but if you take a couple of hours daily just to escapee than its fine.

I think it's okay to escape reality sometimes... real life is difficult sometimes, and there's nothing wrong with wanting to feel like you're in a different world or a different place. There's nothing wrong with it... it's good for your imagination.

I'm looking for a tracing activity book I used to have when I was a kid...?
Back in the day my cousins and I had these books, not coloring books but tracing books, each page had face shapes, and many different nose shapes and lip shapes and ears and so on. You could trace your own shapes out of the book to make a person. What were these books called and where on earth can I find one. I thought it would be really cool to get my cousins one kind of as a remember when we were young kind of thing when we all meet up again soon... I've googled and looked all over ebay but I can't find anything and it's been so long I can't remember for the life of me what they were called...
I'm looking for a tracing activity book I used to have when I was a kid...?
How old would this book have been?
I found one called "How to Draw Funny Faces" by Karen Walker/ Georgene Griffin that came with tracing paper. It came out in 1991, 1992, 1997 and again in 1999. The book was wider than it was tall. I believe this may be the book's cover, although the seller does not state the author's name: http://cgi.ebay.com/DRAWING-FUNNY-FACES-... There are some used copies for sale here: http://www.abebooks.com/servlet/SearchRe...
There was also "Silly Monsters Tracing Fun" by Joan Berger, a Scholastic book from 1990 that also included tracing paper but I think you would have mentioned if it was monster faces.
I hope I was able to help.

Kevin Thorn going Face Nooooooooooo!?!?
Incase you guys were wondering why Thorn hasn't been back since he returned last Thanksgiving week it's because the WWE Creative Tam is turning him Face and he's training at FCW(or OVW can't remember which one) so he can pull the turn off just right. Well i personally think that this sucks,i was thinking that ECW would go back to being entertaining again, when Thorn came back %26amp; i though that the fact that Shelton Benjamin was moved to the brand for a push made it even better, but now that Thorn will be booked as a Face i'm starting to wonder.I think this sucks so much first they take away his Vampire gimmick, then they turn Kevin Thorn Face crap. What do you guys think?
Kevin Thorn going Face Nooooooooooo!?!?
THEY HAVE PLENTY OF HEELS ON ECW AND THE VAMPIRE GIMMICK WASNT GETTING OVER.
Reply:I agree with Kjors. It wasnt like Kevin Thorn was over as a heel either. He got zero crowd reactions so I think what side of the fence hes on makes no difference.
Reply:Well I think the change might help him elevate a crowd reaction and get over with the fans. Kevin Thorn has potential to be champ and maybe a character change might help.
Reply:ecw has too much heels so they are turning kevin into a face.will u notice they change kevin thorn's appearance coz seeing a vampire face sucks.
Reply:Why have so many characters as heels?
Heel status isn't special if nearly everyone on ECW is a heel. Also, the vampire gimmick was getting nowhere, so Kevin Thorne needed to change anyway. Faces are not as horrible as people make them out to be.
Reply:WELL MAYBE WE CAN SEE A PUSH AND A BETTER EFFORT ON HIS PART. IT ISNT AS BAD AS U THINK THERE IS FAR TOO MANY HEELS ON ECW SO HAVING A NEW FACE IS GONNA BE GOOD.
BUT IM NOT A BIG FAN OF KEVIN THORN HE HAS NO PERSONALITY AND HASNT MADE US IMPRESSED.
Reply:A gimmick like his Can't be a Face. The Best he could get is Tweener.

I'm very tempted to give you an actual review of some crazily obscure book; that way, when you hand it in, no teacher will ever believe you.
....How would you like a review of Bataille's "Story of the Eye"? :)

DO YOUR OWN HOMEWORK
Reply:do it on your own..
book reviewing isnt that bad..or hard..
Is your name in that book???
If tonight you stood in Hevean's court
To seek eternal favor
Would you face Jesus Christ as judge
Or would you face Him as your Saviour?
There are many who don't quite know for sure
What that verdict would be if ever
So let's imagine for a moment you're standing dead center
In the courtroom of forever
Sitting before you is a structure
Massive and intense
It's here your fate will be determined
Before this Judge's bench
Then a voice booms, "This court's now in session."
And your adrenaline starts to rush
Peering down with eyes that see through your soul
Is God the Father; your Judge
Then off to your left, across the room
Is the virtual silhouette of sin
Stepping out of the shadows of condemnation
Your worst nightmare walks in
On his face is the smirk of evil incarnate
His mind fixed on your destruction in hell
You've just been introduced to your prosecuting attorney
None other than Satan himself
The Bible says he's the accuser of the brethren
So guess what he's gonna do
He's gonna accuse you of your sins
And he knows them all
Both the old ones and the new
He's prepared his case for years
Now the golden moment is his
So in arrogance he presents his case to the Judge
And it comes out sounding something like this
"God, you see this worthless piece of trash over here?
This one is a sinner to the core
This one has commited adultery, cursed his neighbor, stolen money
Been into drugs, alcohol and even more
This hopeless wretch has even slandered friends
And by that guilty face this whole courtroom can tell
That to a moral certainly and beyond and reasonable doubt
This one deserves eternal judgement in hell"
The words of accusation still echo
Your every sin thrown up in your face
Then God opens the book where ever deed is recorded
And reviews your records of disgrace
God says, "The book says you did this, this and this
And everything you were accused of today
Now, before I sentense you to hell forever
Are there any last words you have to say?"
Now, if it's true you're standing there in the courtroom of eternity
With God to your front and Satan the prosecutor to your left
There's on remaining eternal truth, on that's crucial to remember
On you should never, ever, ever forget
That on the other side of the courtroom
I said, on the other side of the courtroom
You ain't hearing me tonight
I said, on the other side of the courtroom
Is the one and only Son of God
Revealed in time and space
And He's your defense attorney
Who has never lost a case
It's not Buddha, Mohammed or Krishna
Or any other who succumb to death
Ladies and gentlemen on the other side of the courtroom
Is Jesus Christ of Nazareth
Then Jesus jumps up, says, "What a minute, Judge
Now I've got something to say
May I remind you that on a cross 2,000 years ago
I washed his sins away
I was crucified, I died, they put Me in a tomb
But long about the midnight hour
The power of God hit Me and I walked out of that grave
Alive and well with resurrection power"
The devil said, "It's in the book, it's written in the book
Check the book," and God said, "OK"
Then He takes the book out, lays it open and says
"Now we'll see what this book has to say"
He turns to the first page, the second page, the third
By the fourth, the devil seemed shook
God closes it and says, "The blood of Jesus must have worked
'Cause there is absolutely nothing in this book"
The devil says, "Now, wait a minute, check that book again
All his sins are written down, they're all right there"
God said, "Fevil, maybe you're mistaken all together
Maybe it's this other book down here"
The devil cries, "No! Not that book, not that one"
God said, "Devil, why you so uptight?"
God sets the book down, the dust flies
And on the cover it says
The Lamb's Book Of Life
Is your name in that book?
Is your name in that book?
Is your name in that book for sure?
If you've been forgiven
And your name is written
Then lift your hands, praise the Lord
Yes, my name's in that book
Yes, my name's in that book
Yes, my name's in that book tonight
I've been forgiven
And I know my name is written
In the Lamb's Book Of Life
In the Lamb's Book Of Life
This courtroom is adjourned
Is your name in that book???
Yes, ma'am, my name's in the book and Jesus is my defender! Praise His Name!
Reply:allright..
Reply:I don't get into fairy stories...actually I do, but you know I'm a grown up so I don't believe them or let them dominate my life.
Reply:No sorry, I am sane.
But it's a nice poem.
Reply:So Hitler made it to Heaven ?
Reply:Amen, shout it from the roof tops and scream it from the hills. Yes my name is in the book, has been since I was 4 years old. Jesus lives in my heart. God bless
Reply:Wow, what a waste of 10 seconds of my life!
Took me forever to scroll down through all that text.

What are the persecutions that the early christians faced in the book of Acts in the Bible?
Read Acts 6-8 to see how Stephen was REALLY martyred. See Acts 12 to see how the Apostle James was killed.
You simply need to read the Book of Acts to get the whole picture of how the early church was persecuted.
What are the persecutions that the early christians faced in the book of Acts in the Bible?
The story of St. Stephen
St. Stephen converted to Christianity in the early times of the church. He was brought before some high Roman council and told to pray to Zeus, and not God. He refused and was stoned (or beheaded). He died for his belief in God. If I recall correctly, his belief was one of the reasons why Paul changed sides.
Reply:There were arrests, threats, and beatings.
(Acts 4:1-3, 21; 5:17, 18)
Then Stephen was stoned to death.
(Acts 7:52-60)
The murder of Stephen was followed by a great siege of persecution led in part by Saul of Tarsus, the results of which scattered the Jerusalem congregation far and wide.
(Acts 8:1-4; 9:1, 2)
Later, Herod Agrippa I had James the brother of John slain with the sword. Acts 12:1-11.
Then, of course, there was that Roman practice of feeding Christians to lions.
