A student opens a math book to two facing pages. The product of the pages is 1332. What are the page numbers

Let x = pg no

then x + 1 = next page

x(x + 1) = 1332

x² + x - 1332 = 0

(x + 37)(x - 36) = 0

x = 36 , ignore trivial negative solution

x + 1 = 37

Thus the two pages are 36 and 37

A student opens a math book to two facing pages. The product of the pages is 1332. What are the page numbers
They have to be consecutive numbers, p and (p+1).

So p(p+1) = 1332

p^2 + p = 1332

p^2 + p - 1332 = 0

Solve by FOIL (factoring) or quadratic formula, whichever you prefer.
